Overview

Chef Sujan Sarkar, a talented chef who has made significant contributions to modern Indian cuisine:

Indienne Restaurant (Chicago):
Chef Sujan Sarkar is the force behind Indienne, a fine-dining Indian restaurant in Chicago. Indienne achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first-ever Indian restaurant in Chicago to receive a coveted Michelin Star.
The concept for Indienne emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. Chef Sarkar, who used to live in San Francisco, found himself in Chicago during the pandemic and decided to create something extraordinary.
The restaurant’s unique tasting menu has garnered special mention in the Michelin guide. It offers a harmonious blend of flavors and carefully curated courses. Approximately 90% of the menu consists of the tasting menu, with 7 to 8 courses, while the remaining 10% is à la carte.
Despite being a fine-dining establishment, Indienne maintains a classic yet fun vibe, attracting diners to return for more—a rarity in Indian fine dining.

Sujan Sarkar’s culinary journey has been impressive. In late 2014, he launched the now-famous TRESIND in Dubai.
He gained extensive experience working with Michelin-starred restaurants in London before becoming the head chef at Automat London in 2007.
Chef Sarkar has also been associated with other renowned restaurant brands such as ROOH and BAAR BAAR across various cities in the USA.

Born and raised in Kolkata, Chef Sarkar studied in Bhubaneswar and began his career at the JW Marriott Hotel in Mumbai.
His passion for pushing culinary boundaries and reimagining Indian cuisine has led him to create exceptional dining experiences across the globe.
With Indienne, Chef Sujan Sarkar continues his mission to share the rich flavors of the Indian subcontinent with the world, earning well-deserved recognition along the way!
